Will My Finest Be Good Enough

6 Nov

Life experiences play another main topic of my artwork.  This sculpture is a series of  “Ladies” created from a plaster mold.  In this piece, I was addressing the issue of the women’s role in our society.  I am not one that likes to get “dressed up”.  Putting on makeup is more of a chore, along with accessorizing a look.  Are we not good enough just the way we came?  What does it mean to wear our Sunday finest?  Are we not fine enough without this external remake?  Has this ritual really got us where we want to be?  I don’t think so.  Sarah McLachlan’s song, “Angel”, says is all: “Spend all your time waiting for that second chance for a break that would make it okay.  There’s always some reason to feel not good enough”…
